DIPLAHAN, ZSP – The Municipality of Diplahan recognizes the role of children and youth to be the agent of change and counterpart to the development of the municipality in the promotion and protection of physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being not just as child but as an individual.

FY 2023 MILESTONES OF ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR CHILDREN’S PROTECTION IN DIPLAHAN, ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY

  • Children’s Welfare Code which is being updated and adopted thru a Municipal Ordinance No. 2023-03-007 series of 2023 that ensures the protection of children in the Municipality of Diplahan and bestow to the best interest of the child.
  • The LGU allocated the amount of P1,767,697.64 to sustain the operationalization for Shelter Home for Women and Children;
  • The LGU ensures 1% budget allocation of the total IRA is being budgeted intended for the LCPC to fund various program and projects related to children’s welfare and sustain the implementation;
  • Shelter Home for Women and Children caters victims of all forms of abused in the Municipality of Diplahan and Municipalities from Zamboanga Sibugay Province and the first center in the province that caters abused children and women.
  • Constructed Day Care Center in Sitio Sacaon, Barangay Guinoman amounting to P1,200,000.00 to cater the 5-year-old below children in Early Childhood Care Development that could provide easy and better access to residents, mothers and children to the Day Care Center without going to other Sitio to avail the program and services and will give in disadvantaged communities in the Sitio as a venue for children to develop their psycho-social, intellectual, physical and emotional functioning based on accepted child development concepts
  • Received worth P1,890,000.00 of supplemental feeding from Department of Social Welfare and Development through a Memorandum of Agreement for cycle 11 for 5-year-old below children enrolled in early childhood care development which aims to address the issue of malnutrition and hunger among students who come from low-income families.
  • A total of P348,000.00 is allocated for the incentives for 29 Child Development Workers in the municipality for their services provided to the locality;
  • The LGU is one of the recipients in the amount of 430,000.00 from Congressman Wilter Yap Palma through DSWD given for 215 Senior High School Students from Municipality of Diplahan as educational assistance amounting to P2,000.00 pesos each and P705,000.00 for 235 college students received the amount of P3,000.00 pesos each that aims to help indigent families with students enrolled in school with their school-related expenses;
  • Released the amount P450,000.00 as Sustainable Livelihood for 63 Indigent Women and Solo Parent. The project is a financial capital assistance that will directly serve women and solo parent and will also benefit their children.
  • The LGU provided vehicles as school buses to fetch school children day and afternoon thereby reducing the burden of the parents from the daily allowances for fare expenses;
  • Allocated and amount of P150,000.00 for special program of employment of students (SPES) wherein 28 students availed the program to help students earn extra income to support their education expenses while gaining valuable work experience in various industries and agencies;
  • Allocated 700,000.00 from LGU 5% Gender and Development Fund for the purchase of school arm chairs to supply the gaps on seats in school facilities in the locality.
  • Allocated P100,000.00 pesos for elementary school and other P100,000.00 for secondary schools as a support of the Local Government Unit to the operations of the facilities
  • The LGU allocated P89,200.00 for review of high school graduates in preparation for the college entrance test.
  • Provided capacity building and training to 7 secondary schools in the municipality, participated by teachers, school emergency response team and other school staff. Training such as Basic Life Support, WSAR, Contingency Planning, School First Aid Olympics, Simulation Drills Exercise and other related trainings with allocated budget of P100,000.00 by LDRRMO LGU Diplahan.
  • Allocated 60,000 pesos for school supplies to 1,000 daycare children in 31-day care centers during children’s congress.
  • Allocated P1,000.00 each as an allowance per quarter for 4 child representatives in the local council for the protection of children.
  • For 2023, the Shelter Home for Women and Children received worth P1,000,000.00 for repair and maintenance in the facility from DPWH.#
